A Stone Cleaning Service in Port Chester, NY, Recovered the Beauty of This Marble Mosaic Bathroom Floor
February 28, 2018
When homeowners want to give a room a classy look, a common choice is to install marble floors. The biggest advantage of having a marble floor is that it can elevate the appearance of any space. Besides, this natural stone is available in different presentations, including colors or multicolor mixes, giving the homeowners a wide array of options to choose from. Nevertheless, if marble is not properly maintained over the years, it will get dull and lose its shine. And particularly with intricate mosaic patterns with its miniature tiles and multitude of grout lines, it's very easy for those grout lines to become stained and discolored. That's what happened with our next client, a resident who hired our professional stone cleaning services in Port Chester, NY
to solve the problem with her marble bathroom floor.
This homeowner had a beautiful marble mosaic bathroom floor that when it was first installed. The woman and her husband bought the house seven years ago, and she always dreamt of having a marble mosaic floor. At first, the natural stone floor had a very unique style, and the woman was very proud of it. What she didn't know was that her beautiful mosaic flooring was very hard to clean and maintain. Furthermore, since she had a very busy daily life, she didn't have enough time to deeply clean the house as much as she wanted. Over the years, her floor gradually appeared dirtier and dirtier.
The homeowner used every product she could purchase to clean the natural stone and the grout lines. She knew that the marble looked very different compared to when it was first installed but thought she could solve the problem if she deeply cleaned it for a few days in a row. That same day, after she finished the routine, the marble mosaic floor didn't look any different. That's when the homeowner realized that she needed professional help to solve the problem.
The woman started to ask to everyone she knew about a reliable company to totally clean her marble bathroom floor. One of her best friends from work told her about Sir Grout Westchester. He mentioned that he had hired our stone cleaning services before for his granite kitchen countertop, and that the outcome was incredible. The friend told her to check out our website to learn more about our work. The woman, trusting in her friend, sat in front of her computer and searched for our website, finding us at the top of the search results. There, she saw several photos of our previous work in the "Before and After" section and read many testimonials from satisfied clients. The woman was convinced that we were the right company to solve the issue, so she called us and scheduled a free in-home evaluation.
On the day of the assessment, Sir Grout Westchester's owner, Tim O'Leary, went to the client's home to look at the natural stone floor and offer the best solution possible. The homeowner invited him to the bathroom and our specialist detected the problem right away. He explained to the client that homeowners usually do not know that dirty water needs to be removed when cleaned, if not it would set into the recessed grout lines and as a result, the marble would turn dull and the grout lines would fill with dirt. He offered a complete stone cleaning job to recover the original look of the bathroom floor and then seal the grout lines and the stone. The woman agreed and set a new date with our specialist.
On the day of the job, Sir Grout's technicians began the cleaning service by spraying a non-toxic cleaner over the entire floor. Then, a machine scrubber was used to remove the dirt from the natural stone and grout lines. They also used 300-degree pressurized steam and removed all the dirty water from the floor.
After the floor was cleaned, it was time to seal the grout lines with our proprietary grout sealant—ColorSeal. Our technician explained that this sealer is water-, stain-, and mold-resistant that helps protect the grout lines from staining agents and water. Additionally, ColorSeal also aids in recoloring grout so that they look uniform and attractive. In this case, a white, acrylic-based ColorSeal was used to compliment perfectly with the marble.
The final step before finishing the job was to seal the natural stone. Our team used a premium solvent-based clear impregnating sealer to the marble to guarantee that liquids are not absorbed.
When the job was done the homeowner was invited into the bathroom to see the final result. She was speechless to see the incredible transformation. She never imagined that a stone cleaning service would leave her marble bathroom floor looking so beautiful; it looked brand-new. The woman took many photos to show them to her family and friends. She said that she would recommend our services to anyone who is experiencing similar problems. The homeowner thanked our team for the amazing job they did.
Before leaving, we gave the customer some recommendations to maintain the marble floor looking gorgeous. We suggested to always dry the surface—it is important to remove excess water or spills as soon as they occur. The expert told her to avoid using acidic solutions on the surface and to always use pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaners for cleaning routines. To finish, he also mentioned that she needed to verify that the sealer is properly working once a year. She could do this by placing some drops of water on the natural stone, if it is absorbed, it is time to seal the stone again.
